I'm still learning TS3. After making some sim people, I found some skins that are much batter than what is supplied with the game. Also, what effect the traits make on the personality are clearer to me now. I'd like to re-edit those sims. Can it be done? If not, I'll delete them and start over.

Hi and welcome grandmat.

As far as I know, you can only change a sim's appearance in a game without mods and you do that by going to a mirror or the dresser. I haven't played without mods for such a long time, that I really don't know for certain.

Twallan, at NRaas, has a very useful mod called Master Controller. It does just about everything but the dishes and will certainly help you change anything you want about your sim. You will need that and also one called Master Controller Cheats. They are here: http://nraas.wikispa...asterController

If you are not comfortable with using mods at this time, then no worries. Bookmark his site for later when you have explored the game a bit and things are starting to annoy you. http://bearmtncreations4sims3.com/public/style_emoticons/default/ornery.gif

The skin should not be an issue. You can hurry the process by deleting a file called simCompositorcache.package which you will find in your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3. I don't usually bother though. The new skin will catch up eventually.

Thanks for your quick reply. I'll research the Master Controller. As to deleting simCompositorcache.package, I'll try that, but I have a feeling it will only work for a default skin replacement. True? The skins I'm using are not defaults.

But perhaps you can answer this, if I put in a default, will it delete the game's skin? Or will it simply over-ride it? Thinking it may delete the game's skin is why I haven't put a default skin in the game.

And if I'm use a default skin, can I choose another non-default skin in CAS like I do now, having what I choose over-ride the default skin? I'm guessing yes.

The default will just over-ride the skins in the game. When you make a sim in CAS, the skin you choose then will be the one the game sees.
Also, delete the sim compositor cache. It will make the new skins show in game faster and will not harm your game.

I am thinking that with 'testingcheatsenable true' that you can 'shift-click' on your Sim and a menu item will allow you to change the Sim in CAS. I do not run core mods, just script. Hope this helps.
